Holiday Letters to Change the World

This is an excerpt from my new Letters to Change the World blog, where I document the year I spent writing letters. Please check it out and subscribe!

Looking for ways to make a difference this holiday season from the comfort of your own home? How about writing or responding to a letter? Here are some ideas:

1)    12 Days of Love Letters: The organization More Love Letters is hosting a 12 Days of Love Letters event from December 7-18. Each morning they will post a new letter request from someone who could use some encouragement. You can find out more and sign-up here.

2)    Operation Santa: Did you know that children can send letters to Santa through the U.S. postal service? Help make a child’s holiday season brighter by responding to a letter and sending gifts. For the first time ever, the postal service will post all letters online, making it easy to participate.

3)    Letters to the elderly: It’s been a rough year for nursing home residents. Help bring residents some cheer by sending holiday cards to a local nursing home. You can make your own cards or buy them through an organization like Greet for Good, which identifies charities that sell holiday cards to raise funds, or Cards for Causes. If you’d rather not write to a local nursing home, you can also send letters to the elderly through Love for our Elders.

4)    Postcards to Georgia
